What is the Clery Act?
The Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act, commonly known as the Clery Act, is a federal law that promotes transparency about crime and safety at colleges and universities.
The law establishes requirements for institutions to collect and publish certain campus crime statistics, maintain campus safety policies, provide timely information about certain threats and emergencies, and make annual safety information available to the university community and the public.

Annual Security and Fire Safety Report
The Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act) is a federal law that promotes transparency around campus safety. In compliance with the Clery Act, Virginia Commonwealth University publishes an Annual Security and Fire Safety Report.
The report contains current campus security policy statements pertaining to campus security, crime and emergency reporting options, emergency response information, crime prevention, and crime and fire statistics for the previous three calendar years.
It also contains contact information for campus and community resources related to crime prevention, reporting and survivor assistance.
Fire Safety
The Fire Safety Report is a required annual disclosure for campuses with on-campus student housing facilities.
It provides information about campus fire safety practices, summarizes on-campus fire statistics, outlines fire safety policies and procedures, and describes university fire prevention and emergency response efforts.
The purpose of this information is to provide students, families and employees with transparent information about fire risks and the university's efforts to reduce them.
2026 Annual Reports
VCU publishes separate reports for its Virginia campuses and its international location in Doha, Qatar.
Notice of Availability
VCU publishes its Annual Security and Fire Safety Reports separately, with one report covering the Monroe Park and Medical College of Virginia campuses and a separate report specific to VCUarts Qatar in Doha, Qatar.
Each report provides information specific to its campus and geographic location.
Current employees and enrolled students receive notification regarding the availability of these reports. Digital copies of the current reports are available using the links above.
